Vera Canyon Neighborhood

The small community of Vera Canyon is located down Pitsch Canyon Road, from Pitsch's intersection with Kanan-Dume and Latigo Canyon Roads. The axis of the neighborhood is Vera Canyon Drive and most addresses are on that street. This is an older community, originally subdivided in the 1920s as summer dwellings, now upgraded to year-round residences. There are also some newer, larger homes and estates on large acreage reached through Vera Canyon. The few side streets include Pitsch and Charles Canyon Roads as well as Lofty Hill Drive.

The atmosphere here is rural. The streets are extremely quiet, with no through traffic, and shaded by large, mature trees. Along Vera Canyon Drive, the creek provides a picturesque border which includes a small gorge and waterfalls toward the south as it descends to join Zuma Creek.

The southern end of Vera Canyon Drive is closed by a private, gated estate which also includes the closed off Dume Canyon Road. The northern end of Vera Canyon is also private property, including a camp and school.
